Wedding photos, from the album pick to the guests’ download

A wedding is delivered twice: to a couple choosing what goes in the album, then to everyone who was there. Peak runs both from one library, in rooms that each have a purpose and a closing date.

Cull the day before anyone sees it

Two thousand frames become the few hundred worth showing with a first pass of rejects and a second of stars, from the keyboard. Open a frame and Peak shows the others like it, with the burst of one moment told apart from a resemblance, so the forty frames of the first dance are one decision.

Colour search finds every frame where the bridesmaids’ green fills the picture, across the whole day.

A room for the couple’s album pick

Make a room from your selection, invite the couple by email and set a closing date. They pick, give 0 to 5 stars and comment, pointing at a frame with #.

Two days before the room closes, Peak reminds them if they have not sent their selection. When they send it you are emailed at once, their picks hold as they are until you reopen them, and one click files them into your library as a collection to design the album from.

A room for the guests

Guests do not each need an invitation. Open a room to anyone with the link and every visitor signs in with a code sent to their email, so you still know who came. A room can also invite 50 addresses a day by email.

Keep the room private and each guest sees only their own picks and comments; you see everyone’s.

Leave the address of the venue out

Originals carry the GPS position of every frame, so a wedding at a family home puts that address in hundreds of files handed to guests. Turn on Remove location and the room’s copies lose their GPS and place data without being re-encoded, while the master in your library keeps it.

HEIC files, raw files and videos stay out of such a room rather than going out with the location.

The download

Downloads off, one frame at a time, or the whole room as a single zip. With downloads off, guests only ever see a 1024-pixel preview, never the original.

A highlight film plays from a 720p copy Peak makes as you upload it; the original is there for whoever may download.

How much room a wedding takes

Eight hundred finished JPEGs at 10 MB each come to 8 GB. A room on Peak Free holds 2 GB and stays open 72 hours, enough to try it with a sample. On Pro, at $24 a month, a room holds 50 GB and stays open up to 90 days.

Questions

How do I send wedding photos to guests without the link going everywhere?
In Peak, a room opened by link still asks every visitor to sign in with a code sent to their email, so you see who came. If the link travels too far, make a new one and the old one stops working; anyone you take out of the room cannot come back in by either.
Can a couple choose their album photos online?
Yes. In a Peak room the couple picks and stars frames, then sends their selection. Peak emails you, holds their picks as they are, and files them into a collection in your library with one click.
Does Peak remove the location from wedding photos?
When you turn on Remove location in a room. Peak strips GPS and place data from the room’s JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and DNG copies without re-encoding them, and keeps HEIC, raw files and videos out of that room.
