Peak and ShootProof keep different things
ShootProof is a gallery for delivering and selling finished JPEGs, with contracts, invoices, booking and print labs around it. Peak is a library for everything you keep, with rooms to hand a selection to your clients and see what they chose.
Finished JPEGs, or every original
ShootProof’s help centre says photo uploads must be JPEG files, in sRGB, up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels each. It stores them at the size you upload, so a download is the exact file you sent. Videos can be MOV, QT, M4V or MP4, up to 20 GB and 60 minutes.
Peak accepts camera raw files, HEIC and TIFF beside JPEG, and keeps each original untouched, EXIF included. A browser cannot draw a raw file, and only some can draw TIFF and HEIC, so those frames go without a thumbnail, colour search or the duplicate check: Peak is made for finished work. The library is culled with stars, picks and rejects from the keyboard, and searched by colour and by visual resemblance. A room for a client is filled from it, from a collection or a selection, rather than uploaded again.
Client selection, side by side
In a ShootProof gallery, visitors can favourite photos, videos and slideshows. Each gallery has one Linked Contact, who can be allowed to send you their favourites with an optional note, sort files under labels you create (each label can be limited to a number of uses) and hide files from other visitors. You are notified on your dashboard and by email when they send their favourites.
In a Peak room, on every plan, each client in the room picks, gives 0 to 5 stars and comments, pointing at a frame with #. When a client sends their selection you are emailed at once and their picks hold until you reopen them. Two days before the room closes, Peak reminds the clients who have not sent theirs, and one click files the picks into your library as a collection. Peak does not set a number of picks.
What ShootProof does that Peak does not
ShootProof connects galleries to ten pro labs, sells prints, digital downloads and slideshows without taking a commission, and includes e-sign contracts and invoices on every paid plan, with online booking as an add-on at $6.99 a month. Watermarks are applied as photos upload, and you can send clients a mobile app of up to 250 photos. It also has a portfolio website, email campaigns and a Lightroom plugin.
Peak has no store, no contracts or invoices, no booking, no watermarks, no website builder, no Lightroom plugin and no app. If your galleries are where you sell and bill, ShootProof is built for it.
What Peak does that ShootProof’s pages do not list
ShootProof’s plans page and feature index list none of these:
- Keeping camera raw, HEIC and TIFF originals beside JPEG
- Search by colour, weighted by how much of the frame each colour covers
- Finding similar frames across the whole library, with a burst of one moment told apart from a resemblance
- Removing the GPS location from delivered files, without re-encoding them
- Skipping a file already in the library, recognised by its pixels and its exact byte count
Storage and price

ShootProof stores JPEG photos only, while Peak keeps raw, HEIC and TIFF originals too, and ShootProof’s price includes print sales, contracts and invoices, which Peak does not have.
- Can I upload raw files to ShootProof?
- No. ShootProof’s help centre says photo uploads must be JPEG files, up to 50 MB and 100 megapixels each. Peak accepts camera raw files, HEIC and TIFF beside JPEG, and keeps each original as it was uploaded.
